This is not cheap, but worth the splurge if you want to upgrade your soup or any other savory dish. I prefer white Shiro miso, which is milder than the darker ones. Some other brands or variations of miso may contain barley or wheat, so checking the list of ingredients can be helpful – if you have to be careful regarding that. I am really into the inventive packaging: unscrew the cap and squeeze out exactly the amount you need.
