But, let´s assume you are going to lose one of your senses, which one would you miss the least? Three of my colleges said they would not mind losing the ability to smell and taste. I strongly disagree, because cooking and delicious food are such a big part in my life, I could never be without that. The sense I would be able to give up has to be hearing. I can easily imagine a life without noise, yelling and loud discussions. Let me go into detail: The sense I use the most and relay on for my work is sight, the next important for me is smell and taste, and then – of course – touch, because I am such a tactile being in intimate situations. My sense of balance, proprioception, movement in a room and orientation is already bad, so I would not want that to get even worse. It has to be the sense of hearing that has to go, in this case.
